Psychologically Inspired Sensory-Motor Development in Early Robot Learning
نویسنده
چکیده
We present an implementation of a model of very early sensory-motor development, guided by results from developmental psychology. Behavioral acquisition and growth is demonstrated through constraintlifting mechanisms initiated by global state variables. The results show how staged competence can be shaped by qualitative behavior changes produced by anatomical, computational and maturational constraints.

Robot Sensory-Motor Coordination Development and Its Adaptation
This paper presents a constructive learning approach for developing sensor-motor mapping in autonomous systems. The system’s adaptation to environment changes is discussed and three methods are proposed to deal with long term and short term changes. The proposed constructive learning allows autonomous systems to develop network topology and adjust network parameters. The approach is supported b...
متن کاملConcept Learning in Neuromorphic Vision Systems: What Can We Learn from Insects?
Vision systems that enable collision avoidance, localization and navigation in complex and uncertain environments are common in biology, but are extremely challenging to mimic in artificial electronic systems, in particular when size and power limitations apply. The development of neuromorphic electronic systems implementing models of biological sensory-motor systems in silicon is one promising...

متن کاملA bio-inspired predictive sensory-motor coordination scheme for robot reaching and preshaping
This paper presents a sensory-motor coordination scheme for a robot hand-arm-head system that provides the robot with the capability to reach an object while preshaping the fingers to the required grasp configuration and while predicting the tactile image that will be perceived after grasping. A model for sensory-motor coordination derived from studies in humans inspired the development of this...
متن کاملLearning Invariant Sensory-Motor Transforms for Fault-Tolerant Control of Redundant Robots
This paper describes a self-organizing neural model that is capable of autonomously learning to control robots with redundant degrees of freedom. The self-organized learning process is inspired by a fundamental principle prevalent in biological systems: action perception cycles wherein selfgenerated movement commands activate correlated visual, spatial and motor information. These self-generate...
